Fergus Charlton

About My Work

I'm Fergus Charlton and I am a specialist in the practice of planning law and its closely associated cousin, compulsory purchase law. I joined the Michelmores’ planning team in April 2024, working from the Firm’s Bristol office.

I am very experienced in all things planning including strategic planning advice; land promotion; drafting and amending planning obligations; interpretation of planning permissions and amending planning conditions; and advising on permitted development rights. I also have expertise on the infrastructure agreements required to complete the developments, and on managing the appropriate response to planning enforcement. I have wide experience of both sides of compulsory purchase orders having acted for acquiring authorities and for those affected by compulsory purchase schemes.

My clients are wide-ranging, including energy sector clients, local and national governments, and private house builders and social housing providers.
